CAREER PERSPECTIVES

The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) prepares graduates for successful careers across different legal systems and in transnational legal settings. With the skills and experience gained in this program, you will have a number of career opportunities open to you.

You may go on to work in a top law firm or corporation, in international organizations or tech companies, or you may even embark on your own entrepreneurial venture. Alternatively, some graduates take on roles in broader business settings—such as financial analysts or consultants—and others pursue careers in international development, advisory work or the public sector.

What’s more, given IE Law School’s close ties to law firms and companies, we are able to provide door-opening shadowing programs and internships in top legal institutions.

FOSTERING TALENT

IE white and case end of degree award

LAW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

In 2015, IE University and White & Case joined forces to launch the IE White & Case End of Degree Award. This initiative sets out to foster talent among law students in their last year of IE University’s Bachelor of Laws program.

With funding provided by the firm, the student who produces the best final year thesis receives financial aid, as well as a master’s degree scholarship at IE Law School.

This scheme is an unparalleled opportunity for talented young lawyers to enhance their academic understanding of the law, while acting as a springboard for their professional careers.

Shadowing week

SHADOWING WEEK

Students in our law programs can apply to take part in our Shadowing Week. This practical learning experience allows students to find out more about their prospective career paths, and to make connections with lawyers in leading international law firms. In previous years, world-renowned law firms such as Baker McKenzie, Cuatrecasas, Garrigues, Linklaters, Pérez-Llorca, Uría Menéndez and Watson Farley & Williams have participated in the program, offering placements in Brussels, London and Madrid.

The week involves shadowing important law professionals from distinct areas and departments. By following this rotational approach, students gain an in-depth understanding of how top law executives and practitioners apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. This program represents a great opportunity for our students to gain practical exposure to the complex world of law and legal practice.

LAW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

We take great pride in welcoming the support and commitment of the world’s most prestigious international law firms. Through these partnerships, IE University’s LL.B. programs feature scholarship opportunities for students who display outstanding academic achievements and extracurricular involvement.

These scholarships also provide students with the opportunity to intern at the firms, along with access to a personal mentor.

Beyond enhancing their professional experience, this allows students to expand their network and boost their career potential.

"IE University students acquire general knowledge about foreign people and develop the type of legal mind that is fast to identify complex patterns; and they develop kind of substantive and innovative thinking that inhibits reliable solutions and growth. Students and professors work together to overcome limitations by solving problems through functional comparisons of different foreign laws."
