Master's European Union Students

FULL-TIME PROGRAMS EUROPEAN UNION STUDENTS

NO NEED TO APPLY FOR STUDENT VISA

As an EU citizen, you will not need to apply for a Student Visa. However, it is legally required that you register with the Spanish Authorities within the first 90 days after your arrival in Spain. You will have to complete a two-step process in order to obtain your European NIE Card (“Certificate of Registration").

The European NIE Card provides some key practical benefits. If you ever have the opportunity to work, do an internship or carry out certain other activities in Spain, you will be asked for a valid European NIE Card.

How do I get the card?

To obtain the card, it is first mandatory to register your address at the City Hall. Once this step is completed, you will be able to book an appointment to apply and obtain the European NIE Card.

Once the academic year starts, our team will guide you throughout the process and will provide you with a list of instructions and required documents.

Health Insurance

All IE students must hold a full health insurance coverage, to cover any illness or accident that may occur during your stay in Spain.

European students may apply for the European Health Insurance Card. Thus, if you hold a European passport and you have a legal residence in a European country, you might be eligible to apply and have free access to Spain’s public healthcare system. However, please bear in in mind that you cannot apply for this card from Spain. You must apply in the European country where you legally reside prior to arriving in Spain.

We highly recommend students covered by international health insurance providers to investigate all policy procedures, requirements and limitations of their insurance.
