Exploring the World of Data Science | Bootcamp Diary by Max Keller

My name is Max Keller Sarmiento and I am a 23-year-old Argentinian. I finished my studies in economics in July and worked part-time during my last semester for an agricultural business. It was a great experience, but I realized it wasn’t what I was looking for. I felt I had a strong economic grounding, but was still lacking some tools to differentiate myself in this modern-day economy. That’s where the Bootcamp came in.

So far the Bootcamp has been an amazing experience, not only for exploring this new world of data science but to actually work on it in real-life scenarios. Although up to now everything has been online, IE University has provided us with formidable backup and our learning process has been seamless.

The professors are excellent, not only in their overall teaching, but also in the way they respond to our personal doubts. Lastly, I work in a great group and learn from them every day while feeling fully supported.

Week 7 has been an intense week on many fronts. First of all, we’re getting closer to the first presentation of our Capstone project, which requires great effort and constant coordination between team members. Secondly, we are continuously learning, practicing and improving on different subjects in our daily classes. And, last but not least, our third math and stats test is coming up. In my case, this is one of the most complicated subjects, but I believe I have learned the most from exploring this complexity.

Being in the last week of the virtual section of this Bootcamp, I am excited for the next stage. Our workload is set tTestimonialo increase and our project deadlines are a week closer, and we are also about to start our face-to-face classes.

It’s going to be really interesting to get to know the IE University campus, our professors, and my fellow students. Although I feel I already know them, it will be great to finally meet in person.

I would like to thank all the staff members who make the Bootcamp and these diary entries possible. Pausing to reflect on this Bootcamp and how much we have learned so far has been incredible. I’m really eager to continue this learning process!
