What a Great Experience! | Bootcamp Diary by Federico Fritzsch

What a great experience! This has only just begun—it’s been practically three weeks and the intensity is increasing, but I’m sure that once we overcome this first stage, everything will begin to flow and we will achieve our goal.

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Federico Fritzsch. I am from Madrid, and it’s a year since I finished my degree in Economics. I decided to enter this edition of the data science Bootcamp after doing my final degree project based on data science, since I realized the powerful tools that exist and the value that can be obtained from data.

In this edition, we are going to carry out the Bootcamp in a different way—in a hybrid format—due to a really difficult situation because of COVID-19. But after a few weeks of Bootcamping I have been able to observe that, although it’s obviously something new for everyone, and at certain times it may seem strange (especially in this intense format), I think we are going to learn and perform the Bootcamp as if it was a normal year.

In these first weeks there have been all sorts of sensations. On the one hand they began with the basics: how to install the programs that we will use throughout the Bootcamp, how to start programming with Python, and certain necessary mathematics and statistics bases. But on the other hand, the course is starting to pick up speed, and there are more and more concepts that we have to study and review every day.

Finally, this week we were assigned the company and group we are going to collaborate with for the final project. Without a doubt, it’s one of the things that most attracted me to this Bootcamp, since thanks to these companies we will be able to put all this knowledge into practice to be able to apply it to the real world. Thanks to that, we’ll be better prepared for tomorrow.

It’s clear that these weeks are going to be a challenge for us, but we must make the most of it, since this experience is as short as it is intense.
