THE DATA SCIENCE BOOTCAMP COMBINES SUBJECTS THAT COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER VERY WELL, PROVIDING AN ENRICHING LEARNING EXPERIENCE | BOOTCAMP DIARY BY NATALIA LONDOÑO MANZUR

My name is Natalia Londoño Manzur and I’m a business and project management professional with six years of experience in acquisition, development and real estate property sales in Colombia.

I enrolled in the IE Data Science Bootcamp without any background knowledge on the subject. I wanted to learn something new and challenge myself. It has most definitely been a challenge!

I started the Bootcamp in person, but I had to travel back home to Colombia, where I was able to benefit from the Liquid Learning format for a few weeks. This period was particularly difficult since I was dealing with work-related activities while connecting to the Bootcamp from a different time zone. Now I’m back in Madrid and ready to study face-to-face.

We’re about to start week eight – time goes really fast, especially as the program has been very intense. We have already been through Python coding, data acquisition in Python, data visualization and SQL. Recently, we started machine learning, which has been very engaging. In general, the Data Science Bootcamp combines subjects that complement each other very well, providing an enriching learning experience.

Last week we had an industry visit as well as an excellent presentation from Sara García-Tejedo who works at Google.

We also had the second sprint of our Capstone Projects where we presented the EDA to some of the faculty members. I was personally very nervous, as speaking in public is not something that I am used to or comfortable with. I’m a member of the QDQ team and I’m very excited about our challenge. Being part of this team and working on this project has enriched my learning experience beyond studying data science. We collaborated and were forced to be resourceful at all times.

I look forward to the remaining part of the course.
