Professor García is former Treasurer of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he worked for over 30 years. Since 1978, he has been Executive-in-Residence at the Finance Department of The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. He has also been Executive-in-Residence of the Master in Economics program at American University since 1990.  He is a professor at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University and Adjunct Professorial Lecturer at the McDonough School of Business of Georgetown University. He has been member of the International Advisory Board of the Cass Business School of the City University of London(ad-honorem) from 2000 to 2009 and is currently a member of its MBA board as well asmember of the Executive Committee of the Graduate School of Universidad del Pacifico Business School in Lima, Peru. Mr. García's research interests include retail banking and the funding of small and medium enterprises. He is also interested in the evolution of multilateral development banks as viewed from the financial institutions.
