Professor Fisac is the Director of the Center of East Asian Studies in the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid.  She has been one of the leading forces in introducing Asian studies to Spain and has become one of the most well known sinologists in Europe.  Her activities have focused on the creation of international networks between large universities and research institutes of Asian studies throughout the world. She has always maintained close and fluid ties with China. She was the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid’s Vice Rector of International Relations until 2002, and has been a professor of Asian studies at the Universities of Beijing, North Carolina, Oxford, Stanford, Paris and Florence. She speaks fluent Chinese, English, Italian and French, and is the author of innumerable publications, such as The different realities of women in contemporary ChinaChinese Thought in the 20th Century, The Asian Boom:  China, and China: a Confucian Civilization?Dr. Fisac’s research interests include tradition and modernity in East Asia, contemporary and modern Chinese literature, women and society in China. Dr. Fisac is interested in the introduction of Asian studies to Spain, the creation of an international network between large universities and research institutes of Asian studies throughout the world.
