María Guadalupe Martínez Alles is Assistant Professor of Law at IE University. She works in the areas of private law, tort theory and comparative private law.

Her scholarship draws on insights from modern cognitive and social psychology and employs an economic and comparative perspective to explore problems in tort law, consumer law, and punitive damages.

Her work has appeared in the Journal of Tort Law, Journal of European Tort Law, Latin American Legal Studies, Revista Argentina de Responsabilidad Civil y Seguros, among others.

Martínez Alles graduated, summa cum laude, from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina), and holds an LL.M. degree from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba as well as an LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees from Yale Law School.

Martínez Alles has held visiting academic positions at Yale Law School, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, and the University of Oxford.
