Today the organizers of Hay Festival Segovia announced that they would be placing tickets for sale for a third of the program of the upcoming edition of the Festival, set to take place this year on September 20-28. Top guests who have already confirmed their presence include winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa and J.M.G. Le Clézio; Clara Sánchez, a recent winner of the Planeta Prize; Goncourt Prizewinner Pierre Lemaitre; Chris Patten, Rector of Oxford University and UK politician; US landscape architect and artist, Martha Schwartz; Prince George Habsburg; and writer and aristocrat Peter Esterházy.

Pilar Muro, President of the Quirón Hospital Group, and Diego del Alcázar, President of IE Foundation, signed an agreement at IE University’s Madrid campus today whereby the health group will fund a Young Talent Leaders scholarship worth €120,000. The scholarship will cover an entire graduate program at IE Universityfor a student from an emerging country that demonstrates a high level of academic merit coupled with initiative and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The Hyatt Foundation announced yesterday in Chicago that the 2014 edition of the Pritzker Price would go to Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. The jury for the prize, which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Architecture, underscored Shigeru Ban’s humanitarian work, which includes architechtonic solutions for disaster areas.

IE University is to open a new campus building in the center of Madrid this coming September. The new building, which has a surface area of some 7,000m2 and is located at Calle Velázquez 130, forms part of IE University’s plans to strengthen its presence in Madrid and expand its bachelor degree program portfolio.

An IE University Team comprising students Stefan Wolf Staertzel, Victor Berthon, Pablo Otero and Carlos Beltrán, won a spot among the top 4 in the regional finals of the prestigious Hult Prize, the planet’s largest student competition in the field of social entrepreneurship, with a million dollar prize. IE students were the only graduates competing against more experienced candidates with PhDs, MBAs and a range of master’s degrees. They were also the only students under 22 in a final round in which the average age was 30 years old.
