International Development and Program Management
You’ve been working on relief programs for the World Bank for the past few years. COVID-19 has broken out and the focus of your department is the administration of aid to low- and middle-income countries in Africa.
Monday
- New reports have arrived on the spread of the pandemic, and you are asked to write a short memorandum for the rest of the department and senior staff for subsequent briefings.
tuesday
- The financial support from the Bank Group is considerable and the objective is to provide financing for purchase of vaccines and ensure their efficient distribution.
- Another part of the aid is aimed at providing relief for businesses and financial institutions.
- Most of the day is spent reviewing the Bank's allocation of resources, identifying problematic areas and making sure planned deadlines are met.
Wednesday
- Other more specialized departments are involved in the project, and you work to set up meetings to exchange information and coordinate efforts.
Thursday
- A Multilateral Leaders Task Force has been set up involving both the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group, the World Health Organization and the World Trade Organization.
- You assist the member of the World Bank with economic data input for an upcoming meeting between the Task Force Partners.
Friday
- You begin to prepare notes for an upcoming press meeting and a joint statement by the Task Force.
