Stefano Mingolla is an interdisciplinary researcher at the IE School of Science and Technology focused on energy transition and industrial decarbonization. His work bridges engineering, environmental science, data science, and economics to evaluate the deployment of sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon technologies. Using tools such as mathematical optimization, geospatial modeling, life cycle assessment, and machine learning, he develops computational frameworks to explore trade-offs in systems-level transitions to a net-zero and climate-resilient society. His research has centered on chemical and energy-intensive sectors (e.g., hydrogen, ammonia, and low-carbon transport) and is expanding to decentralized energy systems and clean technology deployment. The goal is to inform decarbonization strategies and support forward-looking energy policy. Stefano has co-authored studies published in top-tier journals and held research positions at institutions such as The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, ETH Zurich, and Carnegie Science at Stanford University.
