Victoria Helena Navas Gil is a doctoral researcher at IE University’s School of Science & Technology. Her research is supported by the Horizon Europe 2020 project EXPLORA, where she investigates the metabolic and physiological adaptations of extremophilic microorganisms to identify novel biomolecules with biotechnological potential.

She holds a PhD in Cell Biology from the Central University of Venezuela and a Master’s degree in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from NOVA University Lisbon. Prior to her doctoral work, she served as an assistant professor of genetics at the Central University of Venezuela and more recently worked in research roles in industry. Her research experience includes bacterial biofilms, horizontal gene transfer, transcriptomics, and microbiome research.
