Brief description

This course offers an introduction to human security, examining international security from an individual point of view rather than following a traditional statecentric perspective of national security.

Students will be introduced to the main dynamics related to human security, in the context of an international system that has become increasingly globalized and institutionalized but in essence, remains anarchical due to the absence of a supranational authority empowered to guarantee not only the security of states but also the security of individuals.

Learning Objetives

To conceptualize, frame, and explain the fundamental problems of human security.
