Brief description

Sports Arbitration is a highly specialized and interesting field. It is, however, also a field where practical experience is limited and hard to obtain during the initial years of a lawyers’ career.
The Sports Arbitration Moot (the “SAM” – ) is an annual Team competition for students in law schools. The SAM is an annual competition focused on a fictional Sports Case before the Court of Arbitration for Sports. While mostly focused on oral advocacy, it also requires significant research skills and the preparation of written skeleton arguments.
The Sports Arbitration Moot will take place between November 2024 and May 2025.
The course seeks to provide an introduction to Sports Law and the written and oral advocacy required to succeed in the Moot and select the team that will participate in the course.
A maximum of four students may be selected to participate in the Sports Arbitration Moot Competition.

Learning Objetives

The objective of the course is that the students be able to:
Acquire awareness of the key procedural and substantive issues arising in sports arbitration;
Develop a strategy and adapt their written and oral advocacy skills to achieve that strategy;
Gain the skills to successfully participate in the SAM.
