Robotics

Robotics combines mechanics, computation, and intelligence to build autonomous systems that perceive, learn, and act in the real world. This research line focuses on autonomous systems, human–robot interaction, and intelligent control. At IE, researchers integrate methods from artificial intelligence, machine learning, and control theory to create adaptive, safe, and efficient robots capable of operating in complex environments.

Designing robots requires balancing autonomy with reliability. Modern advances in motion planning, sensor fusion, and reinforcement learning allow robots not only to perform precise tasks but also to anticipate change and adapt to uncertainty. From service and healthcare assistants to industrial automation, robotics is increasingly becoming a partner in human activity—expanding the frontier of what machines can understand, decide, and accomplish.
