Dr. Mario Alonso Puig is a specialist in General and digestive surgery with over 26 years of clinical practice. He also studies the impact of mental processes on the development of talent and ability, as well as on health and well-being. He has authored nine books about leadership, health, well-being and happiness. Dr. Puig is a professor of Leadership, communication, coaching, creativity and stress management at IE and other schools in Europe.
Dr. Puig is a fellow in surgery from Harvery University Medical School and has a master’s degree in Human Sciences from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria en Madrid. He has trained in MBSR at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at UMASS Medical school and holds certifications in coaching for leadership and professional development from The Tavistock Institute in London.
Lee Newman, Ph.D.
Senior Advisor, Behavioral Science and Assessment
Lee Newman is Dean of IE’s School of Human Sciences and Technology, and a professor of Behavior, Leadership, and Analytics at IE University. He currently teaches the course on Decision Making and Behavioral Fitness in the Executive Master in Positive Leadership, Strategy & Transformational.
Prior to pursuing a career in academia, Dr. Newman served as an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company in Chicago and was a founder and senior manager in two technology-based startups in New York City.
Dr. Newman holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Psychology (Cognitive) and Computer Science (A.I.), as well as a Certificate in Cognitive Neuroscience. He also holds an MBA from The MIT Sloan School of Management, a Master in Technology & Policy from MIT, and a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
Norman Kurtis, MBA

Norman Kurtis is currently the Vice Dean of Behavior & Talent at IE´s School of Human Sciences & Technology where his teaching is focused on marketing, consumer insights, leadership and behavior.
He has more than 20 years of business experience, most recently in the market research, consumer insights and behavior areas as the CEO for Ipsos and for Kantar Spain. In addition, he has spent several years in the Strategy Practice of Accenture in Europe and at American Express in New York.
Norman has an MBA from the London Business School and a Bachelor in Business Administration with a Finance concentration and a Bachelor in Arts with a French Literature concentration from the University of Notre Dame in the US.
Nick Van Dam, Ph.D.

Nick is passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential. He is an internationally recognized thought leader, adviser, researcher, author, and speaker on corporate Learning, Talent and Leadership Development. Over the course of his career he has served more than 100 clients around the world.
He is IE University Board Member (CvB), Chief Learning Officer and Chief IE Center for Learning Innovation. He is a Professor Corporate Learning & Development at IE University, Nyenrode Business Universiteit, and Associate Professor at Wharton/PENN CLO Executive Doctorate Program (USA). He is board member of ICEDR and Senior Advisor (external) at McKinsey & Company.
Amélie de Marsily
Amélie de Marsily is deeply interested in people, teams, their growth, transformation and flourishing. She is currently the Academic Director for IE's Centre for Health, Well-being and Happiness, having previously worked for over 20 years in IT as a lawyer and business leader.Amélie holds an Executive Master in Positive Leadership and Strategy from IE, and trained at IE as a teacher for the Mindfulness Based Strategic Awareness intervention.
