Soledad Atienza

Dean of IE Law School

Soledad Atienza is the dean of IE Law School and has extensive academic experience and a global vision of legal training. Previously, she held the position of vice dean of international relations at IE Law School and directed the degree in law at IE University. Before that, she practiced as a lawyer at the Pérez-Llorca law firm for five years.

Atienza has a PhD in social sciences from IE University and is a professor of law. Her areas of expertise include comparative law and teaching methods of law. Atienza has an Executive MBA from IE Business School; she has a Certificate of European Studies from the European Institute at the Saarland University of Germany; she was a visiting student at Cornell University in New York and has a degree in law from CEU San Pablo University.

Among her other responsibilities, Atienza is senior advisor of the Academic and Professional Development Committee of the IBA (International Bar Association), where she is co-chair of the project Blueprint on Global Legal Education. In addition, she is co-director of the Pérez-Llorca/IE Chair of Commercial Law and author of the book Enseñar derecho: ¿puede servirnos la experiencia de Estados Unidos?, published by Aranzadi in 2014.
