Joe Naoum Sawaya

Joe Naoum-Sawaya holds a Ph.D. in Management Science/Operations Research from the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on the analytical modeling and solution of decision-making problems in the industry using mathematical optimization and machine learning methods. He has worked across several domains, including energy, transportation, telecommunications, and supply chains, and has consulted for multiple companies in these sectors. His research has received funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, as well as from private-sector partners such as Ribbit Inc., Ethelo Inc., and Challenger Motor Company.

Joe’s work has been published in leading journals including Production and Operations Management, Mathematical Programming, INFORMS Journal on Computing, and the European Journal of Operational Research, among others. He is co-editor of the volume Analytics for the Sharing Economy: Mathematics, Engineering and Business Perspectives and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of INFOR: Information Systems and Operational Research.
