How can mathematical models describe and predict complex systems?

This research line develops mathematical models and computational methods for understanding, simulating and predicting the behaviour of complex physical and engineered systems. Research includes scientific computing, dynamical systems, numerical methods, differential geometry, mathematical physics and computational mathematics, providing mathematical foundations for simulation, control and scientific machine learning.
