Learning a new language is not just about grammar rules, vocabulary, new sounds, pronunciation, or intonation. It opens the door to a richer, broader reality—one filled with emotional discovery. The extracurricular language activities organized by the Language Center aim to empower IE students to go beyond the boundaries of the classroom and step into a world of vibrant connection and cultural exploration. These experiences help refine communication skills and cultivate global awareness through real voices, shared stories, and meaningful exchanges. Language becomes more than a subject; it becomes a bridge—linking hearts, unlocking opportunities, and shaping students into confident, adaptable global citizens.
The Language Center closely collaborates with IE Campus Life, the IE Foundation, and various student clubs—such as the China Club, Culinary Club, and Music Club—as part of its mission to serve the IE community as a transversal unit.
Some examples of extracurricular activities offered by the IE Language Center include: a capoeira workshop and “Music Wednesday” featuring Brazilian music (Portuguese); “Speak Dating” with the IE Foundation (multiple languages); a workshop at Casa de México and a visit to Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, a Latin dance workshop, the Hoy Probamos gastronomy series focused on Spanish regional cuisine (Spanish); workshops on fan lacquering, tea ceremonies, Chinese knot and lantern making (Chinese); a calligraphy workshop, a “Music Wednesday: Middle Eastern Special Edition” and Arab gastronomy outings (Arabic); a visit to a crêperie and a workshop on perfumes, Model United Nations sessions (French); interview and CV training workshops (German).
