IE Language Requirements

Spanish Language requirement for graduation

In order to graduate, all non-native Spanish speakers must demonstrate a minimum level of B1* proficiency before graduation in 4th or 5th year. This requirement can be satisfied by passing Spanish Intermediate 1 and 2 courses at IE University, which students can take at no additional cost.

We also accept DELE or SIELE Global certificates (minimum B1 level) as proof of the Spanish language graduation requirement. Please note that we do not accept IB Diploma or A-Level certificates.

IMPORTANT - ALL first-year students must complete their IE Language Passport.

Bachelor in International Relations (BIR) language requirements

All bachelor’s in International Relations or dual degree bachelor’s in International Relations students must take three years of mandatory language courses (6 courses – 18ECTS in total) as part of their study plan at IE University.
