At IE Business School, we give students as many opportunities as possible to pursue their professional goals and embark on a rewarding career path.

We believe an important part of this lies in providing industry-led opportunities and talks so that our students can immerse themselves in the careers that appeal to them most.

What’s more, with the finance industry evolving rapidly and becoming more competitive than ever before, there is no better time than now for IE Business School students to match their unique profiles to this dynamic industry. With this in mind, we hosted many events over the past year to enhance our students’ academic profiles and industry understanding to help them stand out from the competition and boost their employability.

Turning employer relations into student opportunities

We’re constantly working to build our network of industry connections in the finance world. Thanks to our relationships across the globe, we’re able to offer exclusive internship opportunities and host career talks with prestigious companies such as Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Bain, BCG, BlackRock, Bloomberg and Morgan Stanley.

For example, at our Investment Banking Day, 11 leading companies came to share what they do. These companies also participated in an open networking session, which had over 450 students in attendance. At our Asset & Wealth Management day, students have the chance to network with representatives from BlackRock and Amundi, among others.

At the IE Careers Forum, students can network with a wide variety of leading companies, such as Kroll, Santander, Visa, Mapfre, Greystar, Andbank and more.

And we also host asset management prep lectures, private equity networking events, recruitment team meet-and-greets, company presentations workshops and more.

Of course, our IE Community also plays a vital role in providing opportunities for Master in Finance students. Thanks to the networking events we organize throughout the academic year, as well as our mentor programs, alumni have the opportunity to give back to IE University and share their professional experiences and advice with current students. In fact, over 85 professionals from the IE Alumni network participated in the latest edition of our mentor program.

Additionally, IE Finance Club works to provide the IE Community with real-world investment experience to build ambitious finance students’ resumes, skill sets and readiness for interview and hiring processes.

Preparing for the professional world

On top of these insightful sessions from real-world companies, the IE Talent & Careers team is available all year round to offer personalized career coaching. Whether that be in the form of resume reviews, cover letter guidance or LinkedIn advice, our in-house team of career experts help students design a career strategy from start to finish.

The team also provides ad-hoc career training to support students on their application journeys. Students can attend training sessions with companies like Greenhill, Nomura and BlackRock, as well as book into bootcamps, mock assessment centers and interview practice sessions to fill the gaps in their profile and ease any nerves wherever they are in their professional career. No matter if they are applying for their first internship or are looking for their next big challenge, Master in Finance students and alumni have lifelong access to the career portal, which is regularly updated with new opportunities.

The Master in Finance not only equips students with the knowledge they need to succeed in the classroom, but also the skills and connections to thrive in the real world.
