PhD Candidate, Strategic Management Concentration Graf_cv[PDF] 2008-2012

Why did I decide for IE Business School?
This decision was easy as I already had experienced IE through its Executive MBA. So, I knew a lot of professors already and decided that this will be the right academic environment for me.

Why did I decide for the PhD program?
My key motivation may be a bit surprising given the fact that I had been in business for 9 years when I started the PhD program. But the key reason was that I perceived the MBA as too superficial for really understanding what's going on in business. With the PhD I found the depth of knowledge - and even more important - knowledge creation opportunity that I was looking for.

What do I want to do after the PhD?
Even though I am doing research now, basically working on my dissertation, I have not broken bridges with the business world. It seems to be very likely that I will try to combine both worlds in the future for their mutual benefit.

What are my research interest?
My key interest is strategic management. Currently I am working on Environmental Management as well as interorganizational learning through director interlocks and alliances.
