BRIDGING THE SOUTH(S)

Mission of the program

The Bridging the South(s) research program explores the interconnected challenges and opportunities that face countries in the Global Majority. It underlines the need for dialogue and cooperation between regions long divided by geographical, cultural and economic barriers. This inter-continental research initiative adopts a holistic approach to politics, economics and questions of international alignment, aiming to demystify the concept of the “Global South” while offering in-depth analyses of individual countries.

The program focuses on the pivotal role of the Global South in reshaping global governance, addressing key themes such as sustainable development, inclusive multilateral reform, climate action, trade, defense and security, digital transition, and financing for sustainable development. It also examines the impacts of EU and US policies on the Global Majority nations and investigates how South-South relations can influence broader geopolitical shifts. In addition, by engaging with major multilateral efforts and summits—including the 2024 Summit of the Future—the program contributes to reforming global governance frameworks to make them more inclusive, representative, and responsive.

By intersecting regional perspectives and fostering new narratives of cooperation, this initiative presents various policy briefs and analytical reports to understand how countries of the Global South can take collective action to navigate shared global challenges.
