INTEGRATION CHALLENGE: STRATEGY EXECUTION SIMULATION

MIMS GUIDE

INTEGRATION CHALLENGE: STRATEGY EXECUTION SIMULATION

The Strategy Execution Simulation is a three-month challenge, where you will step into the role of a department head in a dynamic simulated company. Collaborating with teammates across various sectors, you will tackle real-world challenges under the guidance of an industry veteran CEO. Through personalized targets and business simulations, you will gain hands-on leadership exposure. The pinnacle of the challenge, the Capstone Project, will test your ability to devise and execute a robust business plan, preparing you for real-world success through leadership development and strategic decision-making.

The Capstone is an immersive approach that adds a dimension of realism to the Case Study Method and is based on real-life experiential learning. It brings genuine business framework and key challenges closer to students and stimulates individual, group and executive learning in a management context. Student groups are formed of 5-6 members.

The Final Presentations will take place in front of a tribunal of IE Business School professors. The duration of the examination will be approximately 20 minutes. In no case is a student allowed to present alone or in a group that does not fit in with the adequate number of members specified. All team members have to be present. Students are required to synthesize and consolidate what they have learned throughout the program in order to prepare and present their learnings and recommendations.

The components of the Integration Challenge grade are as follows:

1.Capstone Project (CP): 60% of the final grade

2.Final Presentation (FP) in front of a tribunal: 40% of the final grade

Your FP in front of a tribunal will be based on the Written Report (WR) delivered to your Capstone professors.

Executive Summary

Based on that WR, you have to write an Executive Summary (ES), 2 pages maximum, so the Professors that are going to take part in your tribunal can read it before the tribunal takes place. This will not be graded but will only serve as support material for your tribunal professors in the Final Presentation.

Here, some instructions for your ES:

INTEGRATION CHALLENGE’S REVIEW SESSION

The student can ask for a review of the qualification obtained in the Integration Challenge. In the case that the Integration Challenge is group work with individual assessment, the request will have to be made by all the members of the group to the Program Director, who will provide the feedback.

After receiving feedback, the student/group may request a review session with the Examining Board Secretary. During the review session, if a student/group does not agree with a section of their grade, the Examining Board Secretary may review all of their work and adjust the final grade accordingly (either up or down).

If, after the review session, the student/group is not satisfied, they may appeal to the Vice Dean of the program – within a maximum period of 3 days after the review session – following the steps described in “The Appeal Process” section “Academic Policies/Grade Appeal”.

The arguments that support the appeal must be submitted in writing using the “Grade Appeal Form – Integration Challenge”.

INTEGRATION CHALLENGE’S FAILING GRADE AND REASSESSMENT

When a student receives a Fail in the Integration Challenge, they have the opportunity to present themselves for reassessment in order to earn the necessary credits for graduation. The content of the reassessment will be determined by the Vice-Dean of the program.

The reassessment may be written work or an oral test to verify that the student has acquired the skills, abilities and technical knowledge required in the curriculum, and the ability to analyze a complex problem and formulate an appropriate strategy to tackle it.

This test may be done in person or by videoconference if the student is abroad.

The grading resulting from said reassessment will be limited to a Low Pass or Fail. This means that if a student passes the reassessment, they cannot receive a higher grade than a Low Pass. Both grades, a Fail in the subject as well as the grade obtained in the reassessment, will appear on the student’s grade transcript. For the calculation of the GPA, however, only the reassessment score will be taken into account. Students who receive a Fail at the Integration Challenge reassessment cannot graduate.

The reassessment will take place between 5 and 10 working days after the date of the review session. If the reassessment takes place after the graduation ceremony or the results have not been published before the graduation ceremony, the student may attend the ceremony and receive a provisional certificate indicating that their graduation is conditional on the result of the reassessment.
