Future Trends

With the aim of helping organizations adapt to a rapidly changing world, we run Future Trends, an applied and impact-oriented program designed to introduce senior decision-makers to the main trends of technological and societal disruption, and to enhance their foresight ability to anticipate, understand, and manage the associated challenges and opportunities.

Future Trends is a customized, high-impact experience designed to equip senior executives with the tools to embrace today's complexity, adopt a long-term perspective in decision-making, and future-proof their organizations.

THE EXPERIENCE

The course comprises a week-long Study Tour for up to 30 participants that allows them to interact with some of the top thinkers and practitioners from the most prestigious global institutions, meet experts from a wide range of fields, and engage with the new and unknown in interactive, collaborative workshops.  

The program pursues two main goals:

  • To stimulate futures thinking among a select group of individuals, expanding their understanding of global trends,
  • To help them build identify the right challenges and tools necessary to future-proof their organizations to the world that is coming

Future Trends takes place at IE University, in Madrid or Segovia.

    IE Tower: Our urban campus that represents the cutting edge of learning innovation. Located in the heart of the city’s financial district.

  • SEGOVIA CAMPUS

    Housed in the Convent of Santa Cruz la Real —declared a national heritage site in 1931— our Segovia campus is a historic work of architecture. 

COURSE STRUCTURE

Future Trends provides access to an elite body of experts and to an exclusive and cutting-edge set of knowledge on technological and social disruption. The program is composed of the following types of content:

    FORESIGHT WORKSHOPS

    In which participants prepare to meet the challenges and grasp the opportunities faced by their organizations through methods such as horizon scanning, scenario planning or backcasting. 

  • A large group of people gathered around a dining table in an elegant room.

    Cultural visits or dinners with speakers to socialize with peers and further explore together the issues addressed during the lectures, connect ideas and co-create visions of the future.

    UN SENIOR WOMEN LEADERS 

    A foresight program for the UN Senior Women Leaders group to expose them to the key trends of technological and societal disruption, develop their anticipatory thinking, and enhance their ability to manage and shape change. The outcome resulted in a forward-looking reevaluation of how the management teams operate within the UN system.

    AMBASSADORS OF THE SPANISH GOVERNMENT

    An unprecedented training program for the 25 most senior ambassadors of the Spanish Government to help them understand how emerging technologies transform the global order and how to adapt their practice of diplomacy and strategic communications accordingly. The outcome was a profound rethinking of how Spanish embassies communicate in the digital age.

  • A spacious indoor shopping mall with multiple levels and various stores.

    RETAIL 

    A tailor-made training program for one of the largest retail companies in Latin America to further develop the way their senior executives understand technological, economic, and social disruption. The outcome of the program was a group exercise of identifying the key issues the company will need to address in the coming 5 years both at a global and local level.

    A program specifically designed for a European banking institution to update their senior executive leadership on the latest geopolitical and geoeconomic trends of change. The program exposed executives to topics they rarely discuss and identified challenges that had never been previously addressed by the organization.
