IE Business School Student Awarded by Association of MBAs
International MBA student Marion Tezier received second prize in the 2013 Association of MBAs (AMBA) MBA Student of the Year Award.
The coveted award is open to nominations from AMBA’s accredited business schools across the world and is an opportunity for schools to nominate a student who has shown exceptional academic achievement, inspirational leadership, and a commitment to furthering their career internationally as a result of achieving an MBA.
A French national who has recently become a Canadian citizen, Tezier embarked on an intense career with the Canadian Government before entering IE Business School’s International MBA program. She has lived for extensive periods in Africa, Turkey, and Afghanistan, has experience in fields as wide-ranging as investment banking, military defense, and cyber security, and has been very actively involved with NGOs from an early age. She gained an Honors Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa in 2003.
“It is a great achievement to be among the six finalists for this award and, moreover, to come in second place as the runner up,” said Erik Schlie, Associate Dean of the International MBA at IE Business School. “Marion has proved to be an outstanding example for her academic, leadership and social impact achievements.”
Tezier spent 2008 - 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, where she participated in training programs for Afghan women, whose bravery and fortitude in the face of overwhelming hardship and danger inspired in her an enduring passion to help women in similar conditions. Having collaborated in the past in a broad range of projects that bring education to the young who lack financial resources, she is currently heading a project aimed at preparing a framework to enable women from the Middle East to overcome financial and cultural constraints to access master’s programs at IE. Her ultimate aim is to foster the creation of a secure environment in which women from disadvantaged backgrounds worldwide can access education to develop and leverage their potential for the benefit of all.
“I have been impressed by the commitment of most IE IMBA students to wanting to do good and to do it well. In fact, I am convinced that many good things will come out the students in my cohort,” said Marion Teizer. “Furthermore I would not have won second prize in the MBA Student of the Year Award without the help and support of my family, the great people I met and worked with throughout my career and at IE.”
The annual ceremony of the MBA Student of the Year Award was held in London this November.
