Ramya Raghavendra

Ramya Raghavendra is a Research Scientist and Master Inventor at IBM Research AI where she has been working since 2010. Prior to that, she received her MS and PhD in Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Ramya has extensive research experience in a range of topics from building robust networked systems to AI deployments.  Her current work focuses on problems related to trust in AI systems including fairness, explainability and governance. She also co-leads the effort on building scalable AI platforms for Social Good initiatives. Ramya’s research has resulted in over 30 peer-reviewed publications, 40 patents as well as numerous product offerings. Her work has been recognized through several Outstanding Research Awards, Google Anita Borg scholarship, UCSB Oustanding Graduate Student award and ACM Student Research Contest. Ramya’s technical contributions were recently recognized with the 2020 WoC STEM Technology Rising Star award.
