Karen McEvoy

Director of Bucholz McEvoy Architects

Having studied Architecture at University College Dublin, Karen worked in New York, Paris and London before returning to Dublin in 1996 where she co-founded Bucholz McEvoy Architects with Merritt Bucholz, following their competition win for the design of a Civic HQ in Ireland.  The design-led practice has completed award-winning projects of various scales, in Ireland and abroad, working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, with an ethos that emphasizes human-centred, civic, sustainable and elegant solutions. A holistic approach to well-crafted, site specific, responsive design permeates the projects and research of the practice.

Karen has taught Architecture at SAUL (School of Architecture University of Limerick), DIT and University College Dublin in Ireland, has been visiting professor at Harvard University GSD, USA, and has given guest lectures in Europe and USA (Cornell Univ, Cooper Union NYC, Univ. Buffalo, Wood Conference, Norway etc). She has been awarded membership of the Professional Institutes of Architecture of Ireland (RIAI), USA (AIA), Berlin (AKB) and Canada (OAA).
