About me

I’m Reginald Jokhan. I completed my bachelor’s degree and postgraduate diploma in science before transitioning into real-estate brokerage. Currently, I’m studying the Global Master in Real Estate Development with the aim of learning about innovative real-estate practices and technology, and later being able to implement this knowledge in our development projects in Fiji. My long-term plan is to invest in the development of affordable housing.

"My plan is to learn about innovative real-estate practices and technology from around the world, and hopefully implement them back in Fiji."

Using tech and innovation to guide development

Reginald comes from the Suva area of Fiji. He started his academic journey by completing a bachelor’s degree and postgraduate diploma in science from the University of the South Pacific. He went on to work in various research and academic positions before pivoting into real-estate brokerage. Reginald has worked for his family real-estate company, Jokhan Realtors, for more than eight years now.

Reginald chose to pursue the Global Master in Real Estate Development in order to learn about innovative real estate practices and technology from around the world. Reginald hopes to bring this knowledge back to Fiji and implement it in some exciting upcoming development projects.

So far, Reginald says that he has enjoyed his classes at IE University. He explains that the cohort comprises people from all sorts of academic and professional backgrounds, including developers, architects and even bankers. He appreciates being able to share knowledge and experience with such a good mix of people.

According to Reginald, the program will help him streamline the family business and expand into new ventures in Fiji. Not only will it add value to his current job, but it will also allow him a lot more options for development in the future.

Reginald is also excited to gain more knowledge on global ESG best practices, which are currently lacking in Fiji’s real-estate sector. This is especially important as the country is central to climate change interventions in the Pacific.

“This program will help me streamline my own family business and expand into new ventures in Fiji, the Pacific, and beyond.”

This year’s master’s cohort recently held its second face-to-face session in Mexico City. For Reginald, the experience exceeded all his expectations. He explains that the city faces a lot of the same challenges that Fiji does—such as problems with traffic, inadequate housing, crime and climate change—but on a much larger scale. He believes that he can learn from the interventions that have worked in Mexico, and hopefully replicate them in his home country.

Reginald says that the highlight of the Global Master in Real Estate Development is its variety—variety of people, variety in the study plan, and variety in the experience. He envisions a future where he uses his newfound knowledge to improve the real-estate sector in his own corner of the world. We have no doubt that Reginald will do great things!
