EXPANSIÓN, in collaboration with Bankinter, Moeve, and IE University, celebrated the ninth edition of the Transformation Towards a Sustainable Economy Awards.

This prestigious recognition highlights the innovation of organizations as they progress toward building a more sustainable society.

The awards, with the IE Center for Social Innovation and Sustainability – attached to IE Foundation – serving as the technical secretariat, are built on three key pillars: the goals of the European Green Deal, the 2030 Agenda based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the imperative for businesses and institutions to establish a Transition Plan towards a Sustainable Economy.

The event opened with remarks by Daniel Rodríguez Asensio, Deputy Minister of Economy and Employment for the Community of Madrid, who emphasized that “moving towards a sustainable economy is one of the great challenges we face as a society. We must approach it with responsibility and scientific rigor, avoiding partisanship.” He also noted that the most significant environmental advances come from companies, organizations, and institutions like those recognized by these awards.

Subsequently, during her remarks, Ana I. Pereda, Director of EXPANSIÓN, highlighted the commitment of major business and financial groups to sustainability. In addition, Nancy Cueto Gutiérrez, Deputy Vice President of IE Foundation, emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration among universities, businesses, and institutions to inspire action and take a leading role in driving the change needed to progress toward a more sustainable future.

This edition evaluated 124 applications from companies, public administrations, and organizations, reinforcing the awards’ role as a catalyst for innovation and transformation in Spain.
