IE Executive Education has successfully concluded the first edition of a brand-new, immersive learning experience, AI for Functions. The pioneering initiative, specifically designed to help senior professionals translate the potential of generative AI into tangible business impact, offers the opportunity to focus on AI’s potential in finance, law, marketing or human capital.

Over three days in Madrid, our world-class faculty guided participants through practical frameworks and strategic tools, helping them explore how AI is reshaping leadership, decision-making and collaboration across functions.

The series of programs, designed for mid- to senior-level professionals seeking to lead with confidence in an increasingly AI-driven business environment, took place in November. Participants included senior managers and functional leaders responsible for driving AI adoption within their organizations, as well as executives focused on upskilling in emerging technologies. The inaugural cohort also brought together digital transformation and innovation professionals, along with consultants and advisors working across sectors where AI is already reshaping strategy, operations and governance.

Bernardo Crespo expressed a powerful thought in the opening session: "AI is far superior to us in inductive reasoning—we’re the only ones who keep tripping over the same stone. The human brain, however, excels at adaptive reasoning and hypothesis-making. What if we could collaborate in a way that brings out the best of both worlds?"

The experience began with a joint onboarding session, Foundations for AI-Driven Transformation, which set the strategic and philosophical tone for the programs. The idea that AI should be viewed not as a substitute for human intelligence, but as a powerful partner in organizational transformation, was central to the conversations and learning sessions that took place throughout the three-day duration.

Following the shared foundation module, participants joined one of four specialized programs: AI-Powered HR & Talent Management, AI-Powered Marketing, AI-Powered Legal Practice or AI-Powered Finance. Each offers an industry-specific deep dive into real-world AI applications.

Across expert-led sessions, case-based discussions and hands-on activities, professionals examined how AI can enhance foresight, creativity and responsible innovation within their respective functional areas. Topics included how generative AI is transforming workflows, powering innovation and revolutionizing management strategies, as well as the ethical and leadership challenges that accompany its adoption.

The programs also emphasize the value of cross-functional exchange. Shared networking moments, such as lunches, coffee breaks and the closing cocktail event, enabled participants from all four programs to learn from peers facing similar transformation challenges in their particular sectors, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the experience.

Over three days of learning, connection and reflection, AI for Functions reinforced a new vision of AI-driven transformation grounded in human judgment, ethical leadership and strategic clarity.
