IE School of Humanities hosted the masterclass The Human Algorithm: A Conversation on Emerging Technologies, Language, Learning, and Mindsets in London, bringing together prospective students, colleagues, and members of the IE community for a discussion on the future of education in the age of artificial intelligence.
Presented by Sophia Sampaio, Executive Director of IE School of Humanities, the session featured a conversation between Esperanza Cuenca Gómez, Developer Relations Manager at NVIDIA and specialist in quantum computing, and Susana Torres Prieto, Associate Professor at IE School of Humanities and expert in digital humanities. Together, they explored the evolving relationship between humans and machines, examining how emerging technologies are transforming the ways we learn, communicate, and construct knowledge.
The discussion emphasized that technological development does not occur in isolation, but is deeply shaped by human values, language, and cultural frameworks. The speakers highlighted the importance of critical thinking, context, and mindset in navigating and shaping innovation, underlining the essential role of the humanities in an increasingly digital world.
The event also served as an opportunity to present IE University’s Bachelor in Humanities to an engaged audience in London. Attendees gained insight into the program’s interdisciplinary approach, which integrates language, culture, philosophy, and digital tools to prepare students to lead at the intersection of technology and humanistic inquiry.
Through initiatives like this, IE School of Humanities continues to foster dialogue between academia and industry, promoting an educational model where technological advancement and humanistic reflection evolve together.
