ABOUT THE GATEWAY

The GSK – IE Biopharma and AI Gateway provides a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, with a focus on the integration of biopharma innovation and artificial intelligence. Students gain exposure to the entire drug development lifecycle, from discovery and preclinical testing to clinical trials, regulatory approval, commercialization, and patient access.

This gateway is an optional, interdisciplinary offering that students can pursue while completing their degree at IE University.

WHO IS IT FOR

  • This gateway is designed for students interested in building a career in the health-tech and pharmaceutical industries, equipping them with key skills in healthcare innovation.

  • It is open to undergraduate students (3rd and 4th year) and master’s students from IE School of Science and Technology, IE Business School, and IE Law School, with admission granted on a case-by-case basis.

OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the structure and dynamics of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Identify and evaluate key technologies in drug discovery, preclinical research, and clinical development.
  • Apply PK/PD principles, biostatistics, and AI/data science tools to solve real-world pharmaceutical and healthcare challenges.
  • Evaluate regulatory and ethical frameworks while designing market access, pricing, and commercialization strategies for drugs and vaccines.
  • Collaborate in teams to design and deliver an AI-driven solution for a real-world GSK challenge.
