The Ripple–IE Blockchain, XRPL and Policy Gateway provides a comprehensive understanding of blockchain technologies, digital assets, and their applications across business, policy, and the evolving financial ecosystem.
Students gain exposure to the core foundations of blockchain and Web3, including cryptocurrencies, decentralized finance (DeFi), and blockchain-driven business models, while also developing technical skills in platforms such as Ethereum and XRPL. The program integrates business, technical, and regulatory perspectives, equipping students to navigate the complexities of innovation in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
This gateway is an optional, interdisciplinary experience that students can undertake alongside their degree at IE University.

Tailored for students interested in exploring the intersection of blockchain, digital assets, and financial innovation, this gateway equips participants with the skills needed to navigate emerging technologies and their real-world applications.
It welcomes undergraduate students (3rd and 4th year) and master’s students from IE School of Science and Technology, IE Business School, and IE Law School, with admission granted on a case-by-case basis.

Students develop a comprehensive understanding of blockchain from business, technical, and regulatory perspectives, covering the following topics:

After establishing a strong theoretical foundation, students are exposed to practical learning. They take part in an immersive field trip to the XRPL Commons office in Paris, where they will learn about the practical implementations of the XRP Ledger. During this phase, students also work on their final projects, applying their knowledge in practical work areas such as:
- Developing decentralized applications
- Creating innovative blockchain products within organizations
- Designing and launching blockchain or crypto startups
- Analyzing business, technology, and regulatory landscapes to anticipate future trends
