"Think Big. Execute relentlessly. Build something that outlives you."

Managing Partner at Harbor Partners. MIM 2020.

Born and raised in Portugal, I studied Business and Finance with an international mindset that later led me to pursue further education at IE University. Early in my career, I became deeply interested in entrepreneurship, investment advisory, and real estate, which ultimately led me to found Harbor Partners, an independent investment advisory firm focused on M&A, commercial real estate, and strategic transactions. In a relatively short period, we have advised on transactions exceeding €125 million across multiple sectors. Beyond business, I am passionate about building long-term relationships, creating platforms that connect people and ideas, and sharing insights through initiatives such as the “DEALS with Gonçalo Almeida” podcast. My ambition is to build a globally recognized advisory platform originating from Portugal while contributing to a more entrepreneurial and internationally connected business ecosystem.

How did IE help you get to where you are today?

IE University played a transformative role in shaping both my professional mindset and personal ambition. More than academics, IE exposed me to an international environment filled with ambitious, entrepreneurial, and globally minded people. It taught me to think beyond borders, move fast, embrace complexity, and challenge conventional paths. The network, perspective, and confidence I gained there continue to influence the way I build relationships, structure businesses, and approach opportunities today. IE helped reinforce the belief that it is possible to build internationally relevant companies starting from anywhere in the world.

What is the best advice you can give to a young individual starting his/her professional career?

Do not optimize for comfort too early. The beginning of your career should be about maximizing learning, exposure, responsibility, and proximity to ambitious people. Work with people who challenge you, choose environments where merit matters, and put yourself in situations that force rapid growth. Most opportunities come from reputation, consistency, and execution over time, not from titles or short-term status. Think long term, stay intellectually curious, and remember that resilience and adaptability are often more valuable than raw talent.

What does the future have in store for you?

My focus for the coming years is to continue scaling Harbor Partners into a leading independent advisory platform with an increasingly international footprint across investment banking, real estate, and strategic consulting. Beyond growing the business, I want to keep building initiatives that connect entrepreneurs, investors, and decision-makers, while contributing to the development of a more globally connected business ecosystem. Personally, I hope to continue learning, taking on increasingly complex challenges, and building projects that create long-term impact beyond transactions themselves.
