For yet another year, IE Foundation together with IE University had the honor of sponsoring the largest festival of literature and thought in our country, the HAY FESTIVAL SEGOVIA, which took place from September 14-18 in the emblematic Castilian city of Segovia.

The challenges of sustainability, the climate crisis, progress and innovation in society, architecture, activism, and much more were some of the topics that focused on the conversation and debate.

During these 4 days of intense activity, IE University’s Segovia campus, one of the important venues of this cultural event, hosted more than 20 events with a list of top-level guests.

Among them, authors, and artists such as Ai Weiwei and Kate Daudy, historian Simon Sebag Montefiore, writer, philosopher, and singer Eva Meijer, Goncourt Prize winner Mohamed Mbougar Sarr and film director and manager of his father’s legacy, John Simenon.

Many experts from IE University took part in the conversations. On Friday 16, Isabela del Alcázar, Head of Sustainability discussed nature with naturalist Joaquin Araújo and German biologist Joseph ReichholfLee Newman, Dean of IE Business School shared thoughts on the history and impact of emotions with international author Richard Firth-Godbehere and Financial Times journalist Jonathan MoulesPablo Isla, President of the International Advisory Board of IE conversed on humanities and talent with film director and author Rodrigo CortésDiego del Alcázar Benjumea, CEO of IE University exchanged ideas on science, international research and technology with Nobel Prize winner Konstantin NovoselovMartha Thorne, Dean of IE School of Architecture was joined by Japanese renowned architect Sou Fujimoto. On Saturday 17th, Economic Environment professor Gayle Allard participated in the Financial Times debate: “Europe’s Seventies Remix” and On Sunday 18th, IE University President, Santiago Iñíguez moderated a panel on meritocracy and elitism with politicians Hanna Jalloul and Celia Villalobos, FT columnist Simon Kuper and Bloomberg Global Economy Editor and Author, Adrian Wooldridge.
