The IE Center for Social Innovation and Sustainability receives an honorable mention from AMETIC

Supporting them on their way to digitalization is one of the fundamental steps in enabling them to continue developing their businesses in an increasingly digital environment.

Since 2017, the Center for Social Innovation & Sustainability at IE University and the IE Foundation have developed the Digital Transformation for Inclusive Business Development Project in Madrid. More than 100 local micro-businesses have been developing their digital strategies from scratch, with the help of specialized tutors and teachers to take their products one step further. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second and third (ongoing) editions of the project were re-designed to develop resilience among micro-businesses in Madrid as they face today’s economic crisis. Micro-businesses need immediate short-term support and a strong strategy for the medium- and long-term future. 

Thanks to the effort of the project in helping micro-businesses in Madrid on their way to digitalization, on September 30, 2021 the Center for Social Innovation & Sustainability at IE University and the IE Foundation received AMETIC’s Honorable Mention in Digital Skills for Inclusion thanks to the II Edition of the Digital Transformation for Inclusive Business Development Project. These awards aim to recognize companies and foundations fostering digital skills across all sectors of society, including professionals, women and girls. Inclusion and vocational training demonstrate AMETIC’s commitment to the European Union’s efforts to bridge the digital divide.

The project’s team is honored to receive this recognition for their efforts in making digitalization accessible for as many people as possible in Spain. They will continue to work hard on this mission during the Third Edition of the project and beyond.
