IE University renames its Aula Magna in honor of Valentín Diez Morodo.
IE University’s IE Foundation, the Nemesio Diez Foundation and the Casa Mexico Foundation in Spain have today announced the creation of the Valentín Diez Morodo Excellence Scholarship Fund.
This initiative aims to foster the advancement of brilliant young Mexican university students, prioritizing public university graduates with excellent academic records and enabling them to study a master’s degree at IE University. The objective is also to build bridges between Mexico and Spain.
The announcement was made at a ceremony during which IE University renamed its Aula Magna, located on the María de Molina campus in Madrid, as “Aula Magna Valentín Diez Morodo”, in recognition of the contribution made by the internationally renowned Mexican businessman, who is also a member of IE University’s International Advisory Board.
“It is an honor for IE University and the IE Foundation to present this Excellence Scholarship Fund in partnership with the Nemesio Diez Foundation and the Casa Mexico Foundation. This initiative aims to strengthen the ties between Mexico and Spain through education, cultural exchange and the promotion of economic ties at all levels, from companies to startups.”
Gonzalo Garland, Vice-President of the IE Foundation
“Recognizing and nurturing the talent of young Mexicans is key to the progress of both countries. It is an opportunity to train leaders with a global vision and strong values. We need professionals who are committed to their environment and to Mexico, and when these scholarship students finish their studies, we want them to altruistically return what they have received to Mexico,” said Valentín Diez Morodo.
This scholarship fund is open to young Mexicans residing in Mexico who have completed their undergraduate studies and are interested in pursuing a master’s program at IE University. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, strong leadership skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, a proactive approach to their community, and a commitment to making a positive social impact in Mexico upon completion of their master’s degree.
Scholarships may cover tuition and living expenses, depending on the financial needs of each candidate. Additionally, as part of this scholarship scheme, students will be included in the IE Foundation Fellows program and will have access to its library, events and extensive network of contacts. In addition, they will receive support from Casa Mexico in Spain and will be able to use its facilities for lectures, extracurricular activities and events to establish exchanges between the IE community and the Mexican community in Madrid.
