IE University presents the new sustainability strategy and the launch of “the 10 year challenge” campaign
IE University is fully committed with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are a universal call to take action to end with poverty, preserve the planet and ensure social well-fare.
The 10 year challenge is IE’s response to encourage people to think and behave in ways that nurture a more sustainable planet: embracing global citizenship, social responsibility, climate action, the use of renewable energy and recycling, as well as fighting against biodiversity loss.
This challenge, which will focus on specific annual projects from 2020 to 2030, covers six main areas: energy, water, healthy food, paper, recycling and single-use packaging. This year will focus on Responsible consumption, be it 100% paperless, one of the main goals.
Isabela del Alcázar, Global Head of Sustainability at IE University expressed “We want to inspire people around the world to change their habits and make a positive impact on the world, and therefore this change must first begin with us: IE University staff, faculty, students, and alumni”.
As an educational institution, IE’s goal is to ensure that all students are trained as responsible leaders and are aware of their role in building a sustainable world. From IE Foundation, through “Talent taking care of Talent” philosophy, we continue to work to ensure that talented students have access to best educational opportunities and can reach their potential free of economic barriers.
In 2019, IE and IE Foundation awarded more than €14,400,000 to Undergraduate and Master scholarship recipients. This year, apart from scholarships, it was launched the IE Resilience Scholarship Fund (COVID-19) with an initial endowment of €5 million, to help students that suffered the consequences of the crisis caused by Covid-19. Besides, IE Foundation supports other initiatives such as Social Impact Lab, Financiers sin Frontiers (FSF) among others to provoke positive change on both a local and international scale. Each one of these initiatives reinforces IE’s values of diversity, innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusivity.
