An expert in strategic alliances and legal negotiation, María del Pilar Galeote combines extensive business and teaching experience. She was a member of the Legal Affairs Department at Telefónica Intercontinental, where she worked on UMTS tenders. Later, at the law firm Clifford Chance, in the corporate department, she specialized in aspects related to the negotiation of mergers and acquisitions. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on voting syndicates as control mechanisms in a joint venture. Since 1999, she has taught the Negotiation course in various master’s programs, advanced courses, and Executive Education programs at IE Business School, where she is also a professor in the law department.

María del Pilar Galeote is also co-author of the book “Negociar para CON-Vencer”, published by McGraw Hill, now in its second edition. She is also the author of the chapter “Mediation” in the handbook “Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems”, edited by Professor Hinojosa Segovia and published in July 2006 by CERASA. “We are now delving deeper into mediation, which is a very important tool as a mechanism for alternative dispute resolution,” adds Professor Galeote, who has taught in-company courses on this subject to companies such as Grupo Santander, Philip Morris, Banesto and Grupo Atlas.

She holds a PhD in Commercial Law, a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, a certificate in business law, and a Master’s degree in Legal Consulting from IE Business School. Professor Galeote serves as a lecturer for contract law courses at the Madrid Bar Association and works as a tutor for the Entrepreneurship course in the MBA program.
