IE School of Architecture and Design launches scholarships for women pursuing a career in real estate

With these scholarships, the school aims to help women to make the move and build a more inclusive and balanced future for ourselves and also for cities and the real estate sector.

IE School of Architecture and Design is committed to encouraging and supporting women who are passionate about developing our towns and cities, and is working towards ending gender disparity in a male-dominated industry (In the United States, men make up 65% of the commercial real estate workforce, a discrepancy paralleled in other nations). In response, IE School of Architecture and Design is launching IE Women Scholarships to offer special opportunities for outstanding women who wish to build a career in real estate.

“Our goal is to foster the advancement of women in real estate. While gains have been made, we still need to take steps to provide equal opportunities, open doors for employment and recognition of talented women, and provide tools and knowledge for women progress.”

Martha Thorne, Dean of IE School of Architecture and Design

IE School of Architecture and Design wants to attract capable women to its Master in Real Estate Development (MRED), a year-long, full-time master’s program, and the Global Master in Real Estate Development (GMRED) a part time, blended (mostly online) program, both of which start in October. The MRED program is based in Madrid (with site visits to Barcelona,  Hamburg and Berlin). This  RICS-accredited program  explores the relationship between real estate and the making of a city. Likewise, the GMRED program—geared to the schedules of working professionals and who want to scale up their careers--will be mostly online with brief periods in Madrid and Mexico City. These advanced courses, delivered in English, are aimed at understanding the breadth and depth of the development process. With a foundation in economic, financial, strategic, and legal aspects of real estate development throughout the world, these comprehensive programs go beyond traditional subjects to provide an integrated view against a backdrop of urbanism, sustainability, and changing technology.

“In our real estate masters programs we are looking for more women, we need more women, we expect more women. With these scholarships, we aim to help women to make the move and build a more inclusive and balanced future for ourselves and also for cities and the real estate sector.”
