This is the primary reference guide for everything to do with academic life. MIF Students are encouraged to refer to this guide, which will be updated throughout the year, for all information regarding academic policies and procedures, deadlines and contact information.

The Master in Finance program explores the most important aspects of the financial landscape today.
The program was devised to equip professionals with the cutting-edge knowledge they need to conquer the ever-changing realm of finance. We design and outline the best path for your professional success before giving you the freedom to follow your specific career trajectory. For this reason, besides the fundamental concepts of finance, the final term opens the door to career-boosting specializations, you can choose among these tracks: “Investment Banking & Private Equity”; “Real Estate & Alternative Investments”; and “Global Markets & Asset Management“.
Additionally, you can choose one of these two certifications “Sustainable Finance” or “Financial Technologies & Artificial Intelligence” or free elective courses.
The Master in Finance uses a highly practical approach, whereby students can expect to gain theoretical knowledge before applying it to today’s financial markets, demonstrating their ability to use their skills to generate profit. They may also be required to select investment opportunities for private equity firms, analyze these opportunities, value them, and present a finance plan to the faculty and a real private equity investor.

You will spend this year both working hard and enjoying Madrid with a group of incredibly diverse classmates from around the world. Despite your diversity, you will share a common goal for the year: To successfully complete your Master, maximizing your learning while at the same time taking advantage of the myriad extracurricular activities available within the University as well as in the city of Madrid. Throughout this year you will grow professionally and personally, build a toolbox of job-focused skills and knowledge, and explore and refine your career objectives.
The initiation of your program is the first important milestone in your IE journey. Therefore, we have carefully organized this website to help you navigate the IE terrain and to make sure that you have the information you need readily available. We have included academic norms as well as practical matters about getting settled in Madrid and organizing your day-to-day student life. This site was designed to be useful to you and we hope that you will make good use of it throughout the year.
This will be a very challenging year for you, as you learn to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures, learn to navigate a new city in a language that for most of you is not your own. Your coursework and projects will be deliberately intense, forcing you to make choices about how to prioritize your own time, how to work most effectively in your teams, and how to strike the appropriate balance between your studies and the rest of your life.
We ask you to start your program with a mind that is as open as it can be. This is easily said, but in practice it is a feat not always so easily accomplished.. Be patient with your classmates and teammates who may think and work very differently than you. Be open to learning from each of your professors, whether you personally “click” with their style or not. Be open to the fact that you have professional behaviors that might need a bit of fine-tuning, and that your year in IE is the safest and the best place to refine your behavioral skills as well as practice new behaviors that will make you a better professional.
