IE is a relatively young initiative that has extended its sphere of influence as it has matured, being fully cognizant of its impact on society.

Born of an entrepreneurial spirit centered on educating managers, IE has developed by integrating the interests and needs of business professionals with the demands of the organizations where they work.

Logically, this process has also been shaped by the interests and concerns of alumni and their business projects, which have brought added impetus to IE’s entrepreneurial approach.

The extension of the IE project to include a University, to further develop its special focus on social sciences, and to continue its extraordinary efforts in the fields of research and knowledge generation, has resulted in a qualitative leap in terms of the consolidation of areas in which IE had already gained considerable experience through its Schools of Law and Humanities. Further specialized Schools that already formed part of the University have served to enable IE to provide an exceptionally well-rounded educational experience.

The challenge now facing IE is that of endowing this hub of knowledge and educational experiences with a common identity which reflects a broad plethora of values. IE’s core values include the importance of an entrepreneurial mindset, the richness afforded by a diversity of people and cultures, technology as a tool for progress,  and humanistic sensibility as a tool to heighten the capacity of a good business leader.

This identity must leave its mark on the trajectories of both the students and business organizations that work with IE, and on the way they understand how transparent governance is interrelated with the society in which they operate.

The vantage point provided by IE’s maturity brings an acute awareness of how it impacts its environment. Hence it has assumed a commitment to play a positive role in the creation of opportunities for the different segments that comprise the fabric of a thriving civil society.

IE’s ultimate aim is to have a positive impact on its students’ careers, on the sustainability of business organizations, on the creation of networks among students and graduates, and, in turn, on the communities in which they work as managers, or where they head their business initiatives.

In our capacity as a social agent in a global world, we want to help with an in-depth analysis of the ethical significance of corporate behavior, the importance of doing things properly when it comes to competitiveness in management, and the strengths needed by top-tier entrepreneurs and managers not only to run companies, but also to bring about a positive transformation of their environments.
