IE Law School students succeed at LWOW

One more year our students had an impactful collaboration at LWOW winning several awards during the closing ceremony at the University of Miami.

The Law Without Walls ConPosium, which took place the University of Miami on April, is the culmination of the commitment, hard work, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of international law and business students.

During the ConPosium the finalist teams of international students presented their thought-provoking projects to a multidisciplinary panel of judges, including academics, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists.

Two of our bachelor students won several awards: Nieves Bayon Fernandez and Lucia Orozco Lopez, won LWOW prices, Nieves for her online version of LWOW (LWOW-X) and Lucia for the Most Creative Project.

Cybird: 1st Price on the online version of LWOW (LWOW-X)

Nieves and her team composed of Weiwei (from Peking University), Daniel (Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Guatemala) and Emmanuel (UCL, UK), created Cybird, a fun and interactive game that educates children on cyber-bullying.

“Cybird is designed to engage children who are still playing on their parents' phone and aims to be the wings every child needs for cyber-bullying awareness”, explains Nieves who acknowledges that one of the biggest challenges her team faced was dealing with three/four different time zones. “The success came from the small steps we took together”, she highlights. “Our willingness to improve, perseverance, and effort was paramount to the development of our project. Little by little, we got to know each other”.

“It is a unique experience and an incredible opportunity to learn, develop skills, meet new incredible people, grow as a person and also have fun. Amazing projects were created which could help improve the lives of many individuals in our society”, says Nieves.

Collabro: Most Creative Project of LWOW (LWOW-X)

Lucia and her team created "Collaboro", a website that connects immigration lawyers, enabling them to share their knowledge, resources, and experience. “Imagine a LinkedIn, TEDTalk and Reddit all rolled into one, but for London’s almost 4,000 immigration lawyers”, explains Lucia, highlighting that LWOW has been a truly amazing experience and that the most astonishing part is the people you work with and the opportunity to immerse yourself in a real project.

In the last years, IE´s Bachelor of Law students participated in Law Without Walls, a global, transdisciplinary think-tank that accelerates innovation and seeds a global community of change agents that are transforming the way lawyers and business professionals solve problems at the intersection of business, law, and technology, values our students truly embrace.

“It has been an experience that has shaped me and that I will always remember. As we have said several times during the competition: Once #LWOWed, always #LWOWed”, says Lucía.
