About me

I'm from Nashville, Tennessee in the south of the United States, though I've been living in Madrid for almost four years now. I'd describe myself as curious and competitive—I always like to learn something new and challenge myself.

“I loved studying with international peers. The first-hand experiences of classmates really elevated the theoretical knowledge taught by our professors.”

Before coming to IE, I was working in Madrid as an English teacher. I studied Spanish at undergraduate level and then completed a Master in Hispanic Studies before I decided to move to Madrid in 2016.

When considering my options, I knew I wanted to study at a university that was globally recognized, so that I wouldn’t be limited when looking for jobs afterwards. It’s true that IE opened a lot of professional doors for me!

Contrasted with my other academic experiences, studying my master’s at IE University was honestly the most fun—even amid the most rigorous workload I’ve ever had. I met people from all over the world who are now some of my most treasured friends, supporters, cheerleaders and confidants. I was constantly pushed to my limits and discovered new passions along the way.

“Even with a rigorous workload, studying the master’s was the most enjoyable experience. I was constantly pushed to my limits and discovered new passions along the way.”

In particular, I loved studying with peers from all over the world. Especially in a master’s program like this, where course material has such an international and interdisciplinary focus—spanning history, geopolitics, development studies, regional studies and comparative politics to name a few—it’s amazing to have such varied perspectives. Theoretical and academic knowledge from the professors was really elevated by the first-hand experiences of classmates who have truly lived it.

Long term, I would love to work in the field of sustainability. There are so many opportunities for innovation and creativity in this sector, which are the components of work that I love!
