- Careers In Context Series With Carlos Bayod And Casilda Ybarra, From Factum Foundation
At IE University's Segovia campus, students from the Bachelor in Humanities and the Dual Degree in Business Administration & Humanities took part in an intimate and forward-thinking Careers in Context Series with Carlos Bayod, Project Director, and Casilda Ybarra, Director of Cultural Projects at Factum Foundation. The session focused on the intersection of cultural preservation and technological innovation, offering real-world examples from the foundation's acclaimed work.
Bayod and Ybarra talked about how the Factum Foundation works to protect fragile cultural heritage sites. They explained their use of 3D scanning, digital restoration, and making facsimiles. They have taken on remarkable projects like the reconstruction of Tutankhamun's Tomb and the restoration of Veronese's The Wedding at Cana. These initiatives beautifully illustrate how modern technology can enhance traditional methods in the vital work of protecting our cultural heritage. The presentation encouraged students to reflect on how innovation affects our view of history and emphasized the need for collaboration across different fields in preservation efforts. It invites everyone to unite in the mission to protect the key elements that shape our identity.
