Exploring the History of the Segovia Campus

Members of the IE History & Archaeology Club took part in an exclusive guided tour of IE University’s Segovia campus, led by Miguel Larrañaga Zulueta, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Director of the Antiquity & Middle Ages Research Center.

During the visit, students traced the building’s transformation over the centuries, from its origins as a monastery to its later uses as a prison, orphanage, and hospice. As they walked through its historic halls, Professor Larrañaga shared fascinating insights into the social and architectural changes that have shaped the site, illustrating how each era left its distinct mark on the structure we see today.

The visit provided participants with a unique opportunity to connect directly with the university’s heritage, deepening their understanding of how history continues to influence the spaces where we learn, reflect, and innovate.
