Diana Morato

I was honored to be named as one of the most influential business leaders in Spain (El Mundo 2018 Ranking), as well as having been recognized as one of the Top 100 Women Leaders in 2017. I am one of the few executives who have created and scaled tech startups in Spain. I have been at the forefront of the sharing economy (Fon, Zipcar) and of the on-demand economy. Launching and leading Deliveroo in Spain, I have grown it to a national brand, redefined the food delivery sector and created over 2000 jobs in the past 4 years. Now, as Co-founder and Managing Director of Flash, Europe’s micro mobility leader, I am contributing to transforming the way people move around our cities.

How did IE help you get to where you are today?

During my time at IE, I acquired a deep interest in innovation and entrepreneurship, which along with the knowledge, contacts and skills I learned though the Executive MBA program helped me gain confidence in my ability to successfully master complex business challenges. After the program, I gathered the courage to deviate from the traditional management career path in a consolidated IBEX 35 listed company, and began a less conventional path, leading digital companies with innovative business models.

Which are your three most notable achievements in your professional life?

– Shaped the sharing economy in Spain (2k jobs created in Spain via Deliveroo in 4 years).

– Launched & scaled startups in Spain and helped one achieve unicorn status internationally.

– Created kick-ass teams in different companies and across several sectors.

Does success have a secret formula? If so, what is it?

A positive outlook on life, hard work, the understanding that every day is a learning opportunity and that with high achievement comes the responsibility to make a positive contribution to the lives of the people around us.
