Can I apply if during the program I am 15 or 18 years old?
The IE Pre-University Summer Program is designed for students between 16 and 17 years old, however if you are in 11th grade or your birthday is very closed to the program start dates, we will consider your application and evaluate your personal situation.
For 18 years old students, IE offers the IE University Summer Program, you can find more information HERE.
What can I expect from the extracurricular activities?
The IE Pre-University Summer Program agenda includes academic classes during the morning and every afternoon you will have time for cultural, teamwork and fun activities. You can expect city tours to get to know Segovia and Madrid and their history, team sports activities that will help you to build teamwork skills, have fun visiting the Warner Bros attraction park, network during a professional pannel… and much more. During the weekend you will enjoy nature doing Kayaking, having a nice picnic in the Retiro Park, and finish the day with a special Talent Show!
Get to your classmates and build friendships that will last forever!
How many students will be in class with me?
Each edition will host around 140 students; however, the program will be divided in groups with a maximum of 50 students per class.
Will I have free time to explore the city?
Yes! You will have free time to explore both Segovia and Madrid. The program is designed to balance academic learning with cultural immersion and fun activities. You’ll have opportunities to discover the cities, experience Spanish culture, and even participate in exciting extracurriculars like ziplining, kayaking, or exploring theme parks. During your free time, you can visit historical sites, enjoy local food, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of these two cities.
What is the academic schedule like? How intensive are the classes?
The academic schedule is designed to be engaging but also balanced with extracurricular activities. Classes are interactive and hands-on, including workshops, group projects, and challenges like hackathons. While there will be focused academic learning, it is not overly intense—there's plenty of time for exploration and fun. The program aims to give you a taste of university life, so the pace is manageable, but still intellectually stimulating.
Are the classes taught in English, or will I need to know Spanish?
All classes are taught in English, so there is no need to know Spanish to participate. However, since the program takes place in Spain, you’ll be surrounded by Spanish culture, and you may get the chance to pick up some Spanish during cultural activities and casual interactions.
How will this program prepare me for university life?
This program is designed to give you a real taste of what university life is like at IE University. You will experience the campus environment, interact with current students and faculty, and participate in academic and extracurricular activities that simulate a university experience. You'll develop critical thinking skills, learn how to collaborate with international peers, and work on real-world projects—key aspects of university life. Additionally, the program offers the opportunity to live in a university setting, attend dynamic classes, and immerse yourself in a vibrant academic and social community.
